Illinois vacation back during July 10th-15th

Back in July, I flew out to Chicago to meet my bestie Haley for the first time ever. She paid for my flight there and back, along with concert tickets for the Jonas Brothers (the day I got in) and then One Direction (the night before I went home). I had a really amazing time while I was out there, even though I got homesick and cried ’cause of my anxiety (if you know me, you know I don’t like crying and don’t cry often). I hope to go back someday and explore the city more. I wasn’t able to see all the things I wanted to, ’cause I didn’t have enough time.

Haley and I meeting at the airport

The Jonas Brothers were incredible live. I’ve seen them once before back in 2008, but they’re so much better now. We had VIP Soundcheck tickets. Not even going to lie, I kind of felt like I was 15 all over again haha. Fireworks went off over on the Navy Pier, which we could see from our seats, during the song “Fly With Me”. Big Rob also came on through Skype during “Burnin’ Up”.

Then on July 11th, we road the train from the town Haley lives in into Chicago to go to the Taste of Chicago. I had a mini pulled chicken sandwich, a shot glass sized thing of sweet tea, and a mini lemon Italian ice. Sadly, I didn’t take any pictures of my food or the Taste of Chicago (besides the tickets). After we were done at the Taste of Chicago, we walked over to the Ohio Street Beach. While Haley and two of her friends went swimming and tanned, I just sat in the shade and listened to music while staring at the gorgeous view of the skyline I had. After we were done at the beach, we headed off to the Navy Pier. We went through the shops first and I bought some postcards, along with pressing a penny with a picture of the Navy Pier on it. Then we bought our tickets to go on the Ferris wheel. Okay, so I’m scared of heights but I really wanted to go on it ’cause it’s in the Divergent trilogy, by Veronica Roth. So, I set those fears aside and got on it anyways. And after we were done with that, we took a trolley over to Michigan Avenue and went shopping at Forever 21 and the Disney Store. I didn’t buy anything, ’cause I was running low on money and needed to save it for the One Direction concert that coming Sunday. Then we were going to eat at TGI Friday’s, but I felt sick so we left as soon as we ordered the food and walked back to the train station to go back to her house.

wasn’t about to pay $35 for a version of this photo without “proof” all over it.

Then on July 12th, we went over to Naperville, IL. There’s this cute little bookshop called, Anderson’s Bookshop, over there that we really wanted to go to. After we went to the bookshop, we went to a couple little boutiques that were right down the road from it, along with the Barnes and Nobles where I picked up a couple more postcards. Then we walked back to Haley’s car and went to Five Guys for some lunch. I hadn’t ever eaten there before, but it was really good. And then we searched for the Office Depot over there and just when we were about to give up, we finally found it! We wanted to check out the One Direction line they were selling. I wish I got one of the notebooks, instead of the pens, ’cause they don’t write that well.

Then on July 13th, we decided to do a little shopping in the town Haley lives in. First we went to the grocery store she works at (in the bakery), and I got a yummy chocolate chip muffin. Then we ended up going to Walmart where I got this really cute double-sided notebook and a One Direction cup. After that we headed to Rue 21, where I ended up getting a cute black hi-lo skirt that was on sale. And then we went to Walgreens, where I got myself a bottle of Sinful Colors nail polish in “Island Coral”, before we headed back to her house to chill out for the rest of the day. We watched the One Direction “Up All Night” tour dvd.

ImageThen finally on the 14th, we went to Tinley Park, IL for the One Direction concert. We met up with Sarah in a parking lot before the concert, since it was our first time meeting each other. We hung out for a bit before heading over to the concert and hanging out in line. Our seats weren’t next to each other, since Sarah and her friends had lawn, so we didn’t get to see her after the concert. 5 Seconds of Summer and One Direction were amazing.

Me and Sarah. I don’t know why I stood the way I did, ’cause it makes me look pregnant and I’m not.

There’s still a few pictures I don’t have from the trip, ’cause they’re still on Haley’s phone and camera, but oh well. I wanted to write up this blog before I forgot to!

So, I finally switched to WordPress.

I finally switched to WordPress after having Blogger for a couple of years, and imported all my posts from there onto here. I probably won’t post all that much here, ’cause I live in a very small town and I kind of enjoy staying home and just reading haha.

I’ve changed a lot since my introduction post two years ago. It’s insane how much one person can change in the matter of two years, but still stay the same in some ways.

I’m not very good at these whole “about me” things, but I’m going to try.

  • I’m twenty-one now.
  • I still live in Maine.
  • I’ve definitely gotten back into my book nerd ways. I hadn’t found GoodReads yet back when I started on Blogger, but now that I have… well, my to-read list just keeps growing. If you want any recommendations, feel free to ask! I’ll be happy to help (:
  • I have a serious case of wanderlust. I just really want to see the world and meet my friends that I’ve made over the past few years.
  • I love One Direction way too much.
  • My music taste has mellowed out a lot since 2011.
  • I love going to concerts, but don’t get to go to as many as I’d like ’cause of where I live and I don’t really have the money.
  • I love a good cup of tea.
  • I absolutely adore getting letters in the mail and sending things through Swap-Bot. I collect postcards.
  • I watch too many tv shows and movies. I honestly don’t know how I keep up with all of them.
  • I’ve finally figured out what I want to go to college for. I’m afraid that I won’t be good at it, but I can’t let that fear stop me. I need to get the guts to actually fill out college applications. My anxiety holds me back from a lot of things.

A to Z bookish survey

Thank you, Jamie at Perpetual Page Turner, for creating this survey!

I haven’t updated my blog in ages, but here we go.

Author you’ve read the most books from:
Meg Cabot.
Best Sequel Ever:
“Insurgent” by: Veronica Roth.
Currently Reading:
I’m actually not currently reading anything. I just finished “Sweet Venom” by: Tera Lynn Childs, about two hours ago.
Drink of Choice While Reading:
Water! It’s basically all I drink, besides Gatorade or white-cran strawberry juice sometimes.
E-reader or Physical Book?
Physical book, definitely. I don’t own an E-reader, but sometimes I’ll use the Kindle app on my laptop if there’s a book that I really want to read that’s on sale for a lot cheaper than a physical copy is.
Fictional Character You Probably Would Have Actually Dated In High School:
This is a difficult question, ’cause I didn’t date anybody in high school. Actually, I still haven’t dated anybody. But I’d like to say that I’d date somebody like Conrad Fisher (from The Summer I Turned Pretty trilogy, by Jenny Han) or Michael Moscovitz  (from The Princess Diaries series, by Meg Cabot).
Glad You Gave This Book A Chance:
“The Program” by: Suzanne Young.
Hidden Gem Book:
“Golden” by: Jessi Kirby.
Important Moment in your Reading Life:
Discovering Goodreads! I was in a huge reading slump after I graduated high school because of the type of books they made you read. GoodReads really got me back into reading. And now I have way too many books on my to-read list and not enough money to buy them, oops.
Just Finished:
“Sweet Venom” by: Tera Lynn Childs. And I finished “The Forsaken” by: Lisa M. Stasse, about a week ago.
Kinds of Books You Won’t Read:
Anything with ghosts or lots of blood. I’m easily paranoid/scared and squeamish!
Longest Book You’ve Read:
“Breaking Dawn” by: Stephenie Meyer (756 pages).
Major book hangover because of:
“Requiem” by: Lauren Oliver.
Number of Bookcases You Own:
Two small ones, that only have three shelves. One is mostly full of magazines, because I have free subscriptions to a few. And then one is almost full of books. A lot of my books are on loan to a friend of mine. I need more bookcases.
One Book You Have Read Multiple Times:
“Forever Princess” by: Meg Cabot.
Preferred Place To Read:
In bed.
Quote that inspires you/gives you all the feels from a book you’ve read:
“Take down the walls.
That is, after all, the whole point.
You do not know what will happen if you take down the walls; you cannot see through to the other side, don’t know whether it will bring freedom or ruin, resolution or chaos. It might be paradise or destruction.
Take down the walls.
Otherwise you must live closely, in fear, building barricades against the unknown, saying prayers against the darkness, speaking verse of terror and tightness.
Otherwise you may never know hell; but you will not find Heaven, either. You will not know fresh air and flying.
All of you, wherever you are: in your spiny cities, or your one bump towns. Find it, the hard stuff, the links of metal and chink, the fragments of stone filling your stomach.
And pull, and pull, and pull.
I will make a pact with you: I will do it if you will do it, always and forever.
Take down the walls.”
– “Requiem” by: Lauren Oliver.
Reading Regret:
I still haven’t read the Harry Potter series, even though people keep telling me to read it. Somebody buy me the new anniversary box set and I will read them haha.
Series You Started And Need To Finish(all books are out in series):
I have one book left to read of the Kissed By An Angel series, by Elizabeth Chandler. I’ve had it since April and haven’t touched it.
Three of your All-Time Favorite Books:
I’m absolutely horrible at coming up with favorites of anything. Funny enough the three I’m about to list don’t have my #1 “book boyfriend” in them, oops.
“There You’ll Find Me” by: Jenny B Jones, “Sisterhood Everlasting” by: Ann Brashares, and “The Perks Of Being A Wallflower” by: Stephen Chbosky.
Unapologetic Fangirl For:
The Princess Diaries series, by Meg Cabot. They’re my guilty pleasure books and I’ve read them so many times. Also an unapologetic fangirl for the Delirum trilogy, by Lauren Oliver… along with the Divergent trilogy, by Veronica Roth.
Very Excited For This Release More Than All The Others:
It’s a tie between “Allegiant” by: Veronica Roth… and “Ignite Me” by: Tahereh Mafi.  I NEED THEM BOTH NOW.
Worst Bookish Habit:
I honestly don’t really have a bad bookish habit. Maybe being too overprotective of my books.
X Marks The Spot: Start at the top left of your shelf and pick the 27th book:
“NEED” by: Carrie Jones.
Your latest book purchase:
“The World Of Divergent: The Path to Allegiant” by: Veronica Roth.
ZZZ-snatcher book (last book that kept you up WAY late):
“The Forsaken” by: Lisa M. Stasse.

pandemonium.

Pandemonium finally came in the mail like a week ago! I was so excited to read it, but I didn’t like it as much as I thought I would. It gave me nightmares and I woke up in panic attacks, ’cause I read it at night right before I went to bed. So I just had to read it during the day. My favorite part of the book was the very last page, ’cause my favorite character came back haha. I wish I didn’t have to wait until February of 2013 for the last book of the series to come out.

I definitely recommend this series though!

stay.

I finished this book today. I really liked it. But it could have left out all the swearing. I don’t swear, but I can deal with it being in a book if there was very little. But this book had a ton in it.
But the story behind the book was really amazing. I’m glad I read it.

I definitely would recommend this book.
